The World of Debussy
Yuan Sheng
Overview
Best known as China’s leading Bach interpreter, pianist Yuan Sheng also devotes his artistry to the music of Claude Debussy, illuminating the composer’s colors, textures, and dream-like atmospheres.
Through “Debussy Night” and “Forgotten Moments”, Sheng framed Debussy’s music in evocative contexts, inviting listeners to enter a world of light, shadow, and memory. These titles reflect Sheng’s belief that Debussy’s music is not confined to academic interpretation but flows like painting and poetry, revealing beauty in fleeting impressions and “forgotten moments.”
