Acclaimed Chinese-Australian tenor Kang Wang returns home for a highly anticipated recital tour across China, joined by renowned pianist and Metropolitan Opera coach Natalia Katyukova.
Described by international critics as possessing a voice of “liquid gold” and “molten chocolate”, Wang has performed at major opera houses including the Metropolitan Opera, Zurich Opera House, Sydney Opera House, Washington National Opera, and Welsh National Opera.
This tour features a programme of beloved Italian, French, Spanish, and Russian arias and art songs — from Liszt’s introspective Pace non trovo to Massenet’s impassioned Pourquoi me réveiller, alongside Chinese classics The Song of Yue Boatman and That Is Me, reflecting his dual cultural roots and artistic journey.

Kang Wang · Tenor
Praised by The New York Times for his “radiant tone and effortless lyricism,” Kang Wang is one of today’s most sought-after young lyric tenors. A finalist of the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition, he has appeared at the Metropolitan Opera, Zurich Opera House, Washington National Opera, Sydney Opera House, and Basel Theatre, performing leading roles such as Rodolfo (La Bohème), Alfredo (La Traviata), Tamino (The Magic Flute), Werther, and Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni).
His concert appearances include Verdi’s Requiem and Tan Dun’s Buddha Passion with orchestras such as the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and Seattle Symphony.
Born in Harbin, Wang studied Computer Science before pursuing vocal studies at the Queensland Conservatorium and the Royal Northern College of Music, obtaining a Master’s degree and Artist Diploma. A former member of both the OperAvenir Studio of Theater Basel and the Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, he continues to captivate audiences worldwide with his golden tone, clarity of diction, and emotional sincerity.

Russian-born pianist and opera coach Natalia Katyukova serves on the music staff of the Metropolitan Opera (New York), where she works closely with singers and conductors as a pianist and assistant coach.
She is also a faculty member of the Juilliard School’s Marcus Institute for Vocal Arts, where she coaches young artists in art song and opera repertoire.
Renowned for her refined tone, stylistic mastery, and text-sensitive musicianship, Katyukova has collaborated with many of today’s leading vocal artists across Italian, German, French, and Russian repertoire.
