Overview
In September 2018, “Original Liszt” pianist Yingdi Sun joined legendary violist Yuri Bashmet and the Russian Youth Symphony Orchestra for a China-Russia tour, performing in Moscow, Shanghai, and Beijing. The program featured works by Zhao Jiping, Grieg, and Shostakovich, showcasing dynamic cross-cultural artistry. Conducted by Yuri Bashmet with Yingdi Sun as piano soloist, the collaboration delivered a memorable fusion of Eastern and Western symphonic repertoire.

About Yuri Bashmet
Widely regarded as one of the greatest violists of our time, Yuri Bashmet is known for redefining the expressive capabilities of the viola. He has performed with all of the world’s leading orchestras and is also a conductor, festival director, and a passionate mentor to emerging musicians. As Artistic Director of the Russian Youth Symphony Orchestra, he brings visionary leadership to the next generation of performers.
About the Russian Youth Symphony Orchestra
Founded under the auspices of the Moscow Philharmonic and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Russian Youth Symphony Orchestra (RYSO) gathers the most outstanding young musicians from across Russia. Under the baton of Maestro Bashmet, the orchestra has quickly risen to prominence, celebrated for its energy, precision, and musical sensitivity.
