Overview
In November 2014, internationally acclaimed violinist Siqing Lu joined the China NCPA Orchestra as soloist for its first-ever North American tour. The orchestra performed in seven major cities across North America — Chicago, Washington D.C., New York, Philadelphia, Ottawa, Toronto, and Montreal — appearing in world-class venues including Chicago Symphony Center, Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Lincoln Center, Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, Canada’s National Arts Centre, Koerner Hall, and Place des Arts in Montreal.
All concerts on this tour were presented as part of each venue’s official season programming, marking a significant presence of China’s top symphonic ensemble within the mainstream North American classical scene.
As featured soloist, Siqing Lu performed the iconic Chinese violin concerto The Butterfly Lovers, receiving high praise from international critics. He was hailed as “one of the finest contemporary interpreters of The Butterfly Lovers,” contributing greatly to the growing global recognition of Chinese symphonic repertoire.

About NCPA Orchestra
National Centre for the Performing Arts Orchestra, China
Established in March 2010, the NCPA Orchestra is the resident orchestra of the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in Beijing, China. Under the leadership of renowned conductors such as Lu Jia (Chief Conductor) and Li Xincao, the orchestra has quickly risen to become one of the most dynamic and artistically accomplished ensembles in China.
