Pei Li

Saxophonist
Pei Li is one of the most promising young saxophonists in China. A signed artist with Meige Music and a recipient of the Central Conservatory of Music’s prestigious “BOB” Talents Program, he has garnered international acclaim with top prizes at the 6th Stockholm International Music Competition (SIMC), the 30th Salzburg International Artist Competition (First Prize, Advanced Category), the 19th Chieri International Saxophone Competition in Italy (Second Prize), and more.
Born in Beijing, Pei began his saxophone studies in 2010 under Professor Qingquan Wang at the PLA Academy of Arts. In 2013, he was admitted to the Central Conservatory of Music Middle School with the highest national score and has since studied with Associate Professor Tong Yang, a leading saxophone artist in China. He was appointed principal saxophonist of the China Youth Wind Symphony Orchestra and was selected in 2014 for the CCOM’s “BOB” Talents Program for outstanding young musicians.
Pei Li has performed as soloist with many of China’s top orchestras and conductors, including Feng Yu, Long Yu, Lin Chen, Manzhu Zhu, Huanjing Jing, Jiajun Huang, and Xiaotang Xia. He has appeared with the China Philharmonic, Shanghai Symphony, National Centre for the Performing Arts Orchestra, Central Conservatory Symphony, Central Opera Orchestra, Nanchang Symphony, and Ningbo Symphony, among others.
Internationally, Pei has given numerous solo concerts in cities such as Kuala Lumpur, Beijing, Harbin, Qingdao, Taiyuan, Zhengzhou, Quanzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou. His interpretations of major saxophone repertoire, such as Glazunov’s Concerto for Alto Saxophone in E-flat Major, have been met with critical acclaim.
Pei Li is also a passionate advocate of contemporary and cross-genre music. He has delivered standout performances at major festivals including the Beijing Music Festival (BMF) and MISA Shanghai Summer Music Festival. In addition, he actively explores the fusion of Western instruments and traditional Chinese music, having premiered several original works inspired by Chinese aesthetics such as Jing Flavor, Dream Shock, Yang·Ge, and Love Letter II, contributing to the global expression of Chinese culture.
