Beiyan Liu is a dynamic young classical guitarist and a signed artist with MAJOR Performing Arts Group. She currently serves on the faculty of The Tianjin Juilliard School. Born in Beijing in 1998, Liu graduated from the Central Conservatory of Music, where she studied under Professors Jie Li and Jiajiong Li. She also trained with Professor Meng Su at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
An active performer on both domestic and international stages, Beiyan has garnered top prizes in several prestigious international competitions. She has performed as a featured soloist with leading ensembles such as the China National Symphony Orchestra and the Ningbo Symphony Orchestra, and has been invited to appear multiple times on China Central Television’s music programs. Her performances have taken her across China, the United States, France, and Germany, including appearances at landmark venues such as the National Centre for the Performing Arts, Beijing Concert Hall, Shanghai Concert Hall, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra Hall, and the Shanghai Oriental Art Center.
In the realm of chamber music, Beiyan Liu is a founding member of the Hehe Chamber Ensemble. With the group, she received the Special Prize in the chamber music category at the prestigious Klingenthal International Accordion Competition in Germany. The ensemble’s debut album, Tango of Flowers, was met with wide critical acclaim.
Beiyan Liu also excels in cross-disciplinary artistic collaborations. As an actress, she appeared in the internationally awarded film My Heart Leaps Up, and contributed to the music recording of Feng Xiaogang’s film Youth. Her versatility extends into the popular music industry, where she has participated in high-profile televised events for Beijing Television. She was invited to serve as music director and live guitarist for the theater production The Flintstones, which was featured at the Avignon Theatre Festival in France. Beiyan is also active in the intersection of fashion and the arts, having collaborated with international luxury brands such as VALENTINO.
Her notable collaborations include a solo performance in Music & Film: A Tribute to Toru Takemitsu, under the direction of composer Tan Dun, and a nationwide tour of Carmen alongside Yuan Yuan Tan, principal dancer of the San Francisco Ballet.
In the field of music education, Beiyan Liu has independently designed, filmed, and produced educational content on classical guitar performance. Her videos have amassed over 10 million views across major Chinese platforms, and her personal accounts boast nearly 200,000 followers. Her work has earned recognition and appreciation from both the classical community and broader audiences. She has also hosted themed classical guitar salons, such as From Bach to The Beatles, exploring the instrument’s rich history and cultural depth. Internationally, she has led expert courses in Hong Kong and remains deeply committed to the popularization and advancement of classical guitar education.
